Why visit an express care facility instead of a hospital or emergency room? Besides ensuring that emergency care is available for patients who’re truly facing life-threatening conditions, urgent care centers provide quality health services when and where you need them.

Here are the top five reasons people visit urgent care facilities when they need medical attention:

Convenience: According to the Urgent Care Association of America, there are some 9,000 urgent care centers scattered throughout the United States. Chances are, there’s one located near you to provide help when you need it.

Time: The wait time to see a physician or mid-level provider at 60% of all urgent care clinics is 15 minutes or less. Over 65% of clinics have at least one physician on staff at all times to make sure you get the services you need.

Care: Many diagnoses and treatments can easily be handled in urgent care. Data from 2012 found that urgent care facilities’ most common diagnosis was an upper respiratory condition, and the most common treatment was wound repair. It’s rare for patients to need to visit a hospital after or instead of urgent care; only four percent of urgent care cases in 2012 required transfer.

Cost: On the other hand, somewhere between 13.7% and 27.1% of all trips to the emergency room could instead be handled at a retail clinic or urgent care center. A 2010 study in Health Affairs suggested this change could save approximately $4.4 billion in costs every year. Meanwhile, only two percent to four percent of urgent care cases should be handled by emergency services instead. View our prices here

Efficiency: From start to finish, patient throughput time averages 60 minutes or less at 84% of all urgent care centers. Wait time itself to see a provider is under half an hour at 90% of all such facilities. Patients can get in and out the door with adequate care in no time.

For non-life-threatening conditions, there are many beneficial reasons to visit an urgent care facility instead of a hospital or emergency room. Whenever you need medical assistance call Turk Express Care Clinic 817-304-8875 or schedule an appointment here.
